Latest news!

2nd December 2009

We have been informed by the Studham Sports and Social Club that the facility is unlikley (bordering on zero chance) of being available to us for the show. A number of reasons were given, some credible others less so but clearly a case of one hand completely detached from the other exists there. Thats a shame as the club would have benefited and so of course would the social club. I have tried to ring aorund a few other likely venues and had no luck. I will email the Ace to update them. There are a couple of options, 1. still hold the cruise, 2. cancel the event. The event was to be the season opener for the NSCC; that will now I imagine (TBC at the drivers meeting) be at Shakey. So if, we held the cruise, we would miss out on points unless we EQ. Thoughts please by email!

The last meet was abit arid to say the least! Tony spent the night on the side of the M25! With the weather looking increasingly like a white Xmas, I cant see us getting together til January, if thats the case, lets all try to get along.

Membership

We are getting an increasing number of membership applications from the lounge, Ken White is the latest to join us. He will be running his SN95 Mustang next year in the NSCC and also crewing an altered Topolino in the Wild Bunch, welcome to him!

Thats all for now.

The club has agreed its first piece of advertising for the forum. There will be a banner on the forum and when people click through the banner, we make money. I will set up a beer of the month discussion once we get going to try and drive some more sales!! What a laugh, a drag race and hot rod club selling beer, it gets no better! It isnt going to make us rich but it will help!

If you buy anything now you will also get a free pint glass!!

Each time you order afterwards, the club will make a few quid. I will add more of these as we go. It is how the club will stay free to join and be the envy of every other 'traditional' club!

The SandS Lounge

The club forum has just topped the 100 member mark!

That's pretty impressive; given it launched only September and of course as the season ended, its done well, huge thanks to the HRG for that. Next year it will no doubt grow and hopefully attract members to itself from the USA and also Oz!

The web site

Development is now totally completed errrrmmmm except the Calendar. This is a pain but we'll get is sorted somehow and before the next season, one option is to link to the forum calendar which is quite good, email any thoughts.

This weekend I shall trawl a few Hotels and Bars to find a spot for a bit of a Chrimbo bash, nothing too mad but just enough to talk about! If there are any dates you simply cant make, let me know ASAP!

The members page looks quite cool now. Each member has pretty much their own page to spout off about their ride(s). You'll note Mike and Phil have dived in and I think have found the water just right! If any of you would like to follow their example I need pics as jpegs and some accompanying words, keep it brief.

The London Rumble

You should all have had a good read of the show idea for next year. I am still waiting for the final go ahead from the Club house. I will hopefully know on Friday. A couple of you noticed it is the opening date at Shakey. I have been liaising with Shaun over this; the club house hosts a football team and a cricket team, realistically, it is the only place I can find that will have space for a show, cars, camping, showers, bar etc. Therefore we have to hold it in between the footy season ending and the cricket season starting. April it is then! Also and as important is the Ace; I reckon the cruise will be quite a draw, to get marshaled parking and guaranteed front of cafe parking is quite hard. The Ace has also put up three bits of merchandise as spot prizes (T's I guess). For them, this was the only date available in the Spring. Finally, (and if not next year in coming years) if Tony gets anywhere with his airfield idea, the spring show will hopefully raise a few quid for the September airfield event. Time will tell. The net result is that if we get the final go ahead, the show will probably open the NSCC. I also reckon it will be a cracker too.

The club is starting to come together, I can see it becoming a bit of a cool club, I have 'upped' membership requirements to people we know, lets keep it small and friendly for as long as we can!

So, that's all for now folks! Keep an eye out here for dates and more info on Christmas.
